1) KATANA. Overall length: 39”. Blade length: 27 7/8”. Blade has a straight, slightly wavy hamon with a copper habaki. Gilded brass four cherry blossom tsuba with four seppa below and one seppa above. The nakago has one mekugi-ana and no signatures on either side. The tsuka has a matching fuchi and kabuto-gane and has a dark copper-colored tsuka-ito over white same and three cherry blossom menuki. Plated iron saya with a leather covering. CONDITION: blade has a few spots of oxidation that need to be removed and a few very, very shallow nicks to the blade. The tsuka shows wear, and the tsuka-ito is quite frayed. Saya is quite solid, though the leather wrap has one tear and one hole. 2) WAKIZASHI. Overall length: 22 3/4". Blade length: 16”. Blade has a straight hamon with a silver-plated habaki. There is an iron tsuba decorated with bamboo, a frog, and another creature. There are two seppa below and one above. There is no fuchi or kashira. The tsuka is wrapped with light brown tsuka-ito over white same. The menuki appear to be gilded brass dogs or lions. Black enameled wooden saya held together with pacing tape. CONDITION: blade has a good polish. Tsuka shows light wear, but, as stated, the fuchi and kashira are missing. Saya has lost 20% of its finish and shows tape repairs. 3) WAKIZASHI. Overall length: 23 5/8”. Blade length: 15 1/2”. Blade appears to have a faint, straight hamon with a gilded, textured habaki. Plain blackened brass tsuba with a single seppa above and below. Matching gold, black, and bronze fuchi and kashira with a black tsuka-ito over a white same with blackened brass menuki. Wooden saya with fish skin wrap and a central silver mon. There is a pair of chopsticks housed in the side of the saya. CONDITION: blade has been overly cleaned and would benefit from a professional polish. Tsuka shows light wear and is visually quite attractive. Saya has losses but is substantially solid. (02-23218-2/BF). $700-950.
