10 EARLY KNIVES.
This group of 10 utilitarian knives consists of 1 bowie or carving style knife measuring 13" overall with a 7 1/2" blade that features a 2 1/2" clipped point. 2 Piece wood handle with brass ferrule. / 1 Belt knife measuring 9" overall with a 5 3/8" blade stamped at the ricasso "WILLIAM GILCHRIST RAZOR STEEL". 2 Piece horn grip. / 1 Belt knife measuring 12 1/2" overall with a 7" plain blade. Hilt is made of polished antler. / 1 Crooked knife measuring 8 1/4" overall with a 3 3/4" blade marked "HELLER BROS C_" at the ricasso. Handle is made from polished antler. / 1 Crooked knife measuring 7 3/4" overall with a 3 3/4" blade that is marked "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON WASHINGTON WORKS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND I*XL". / 1 Small carving knife measuring 9" overall with a 5" plain blade. 2 Piece wood grip with 3 brass rivets. / 1 Small dagger measuring 8 1/2" overall with a 4 1/2" plain blade. Pewter crossguard & pommel with a 2 piece wood grip. Partial sheath included. / 1 Belt knife measuring 8 1/2" overall with a 5" blade that is heavily stamped "SHEER STEEL W WIL KIN SON". 1 Piece horn grip with iron pommel. Knife appears to be quite early but likely has a replacement grip. / 1 Belt knife measuring 11 1/4" overall with a 6" blade. Blade has a raised medial ridge and is obviously made from a file. 1 Piece wood grip with pewter ferrule & pommel cap. Sheath is constructed of sheet copper. / 1 Belt knife measuring 10" overall with a 6" plain blade. Nickel silver crossguard with 2 piece horn grip. A later leather sheath is included. CONDITION: all knives show moderate to heavy wear. Blades are complete but have been sharpened numerous times in their useful life. None have serious damage.
