This is a full scale version of of a U.S. M1841 Mountain Howitzer manufactured, we believe, by Dixie Gun Works. The m1841 was mostly used from 1841 to 1865 including the Mexican-American war and the American Civil war. 37 1/2" barrel, 4 1/2" breech. The carriage is made of white oak, painted is the original Civil War of olive drab and black. The wood has been socked in preservative, water proof sealer, two coats of primer, 3 coats of paint with a clear glass top coat. Wheels are 43" high. Most parts of the carriage are cast in bronze with the remaining parts are formed out of mild steel. Metal is powder coated. Has all the accessories except the bucket, rope, wooden breech plug, combo worm/sponge, Leather cover for the touch hole and combo plunger/sponge. Also included is Tables of fire, paperwork for fabricating loads, building plans, 8 cannon balls which seem a little small in diameter for this Howitzer and a green canvass barrel cover. Excellent condition. NOTE* Buyer must made arrangements for shipping.
