This is a very good example of a Officers 1839 Forage Hat, Pebble grain leather visor. Leather band with Brass Eagle side buttons an & #34;A& #34; in the shield, for Artillery. Original period emblem, crossed cannons with a silver & #34;5& #39;& #34; in the center. Leather sweat band on the inside, the lining is a period redone in a white silk. Overall this is an excellent example of a rare Pattern 1839 Forage Cap.
