1892 Winchester Special Order rifle in .38-40 caliber with 24” octagon barrel, select checkered wood stock, and rifle butt. This rifle has been exhibition quality relief chiseled engraved in western scenes and is signed by Australian masterengraver R. Chapman. The left side of the frame shows a stagecoach and western scene surrounded by fine and tight scrolls. The right side shows a gold miner and camp scene. The barrel is engraved and fully silver inlaid. The rifle has beenrestored to excellent with the frame “In the White” to accent engraving. The action is very good and the bore is bright. S/N 960565. To replace this rifle would be an expensive and difficult project as there are only a handful oftop engravers that can deep cut and chisel in this precise manner. It is very similar to the master work of R. Kornbraith and Frank Hendriks. (C&R) Est.: $25,000-$50,000
