Double cased set of Deluxe Finished Presentation Colts inscribed “Col. William A. Thorton, With Compliments of Col. Colt.” This pair were part of the extraordinary presentation series by Colt to officers inlate 1861. Approximately a dozen sets were presented to important officers and many are now in American museums and institutions. Other sets are known presented to Gen. Porter, Gen. McDowell, Gen. Burnside, GenButler, Gen. Mcllelan, Gen. Marcy, Gen. Sherman, Gen. Lorenzo Thomas and a few others. These sets are high polish finished with select grips and deluxe brass bound oversize cased. They are now and have alwaysbeen considered the Zenith of Sam Colt presentations. Colt 1860 Army S/N 11682 remains in original near fine condition with approximately 85%-95% original high polish bright blueremains and some beginning age and light scratches. Shipping can take up to 6-8 weeks. Buyer pays all packing, material, handling, shipping costs and 2% of invoice amount for insurance.
