Manufactured in September 1949 according to date code "DUU". This is the highest grade executed by Remington's Custom Shop. A "Grade F Premier" Remington started life from a set of hand-picked and fitted components, receiving an expert touch from the very beginning. Features a 25-1/2" blued ventilated rib barrel with a nickel bead mid-barrel and white bead front sight. Chambered for 2-3/4" shells with a cylinder choke. Beautiful floral scroll engraving extends 6" from the action on both sides of the barrel with an engraved "Grade F" next to the Remington two-line address and patent. Over 95% of the receiver surface is covered in engraving including hand cut model and serial number markings on the underside, and starburst patterns on the screws. Each side of the receiver features a triple panel scene, featuring a pair of hunting dogs in the center which are flanked by scenes of one or two game birds with the initial "E" (attributed to Custom Shop engraver Carl Ennis) concealed in or near the dog scenes. Top of the receiver features floral scroll engraving with nicely pattern borders. Engraving extends to the back and top of the tang. Bolt is stamped "THE SPORTSMAN". Bottom of trigger guard is engraved with floral scroll design surrounding a dog's bust, equipped with a crossbolt safety. Nicely figured walnut stock with hand-checkered full pistol grip and a factory cap. Brass oval vanity plate inlaid on the bottom. Matching trap/skeet style forearm with hand-checkering. CONDITION
Retains 97%+ finish with light handling marks. Minor spotting on the bolt. Stock shows a few faint dings on the left side, faint scuffs and light handling marks but sharp checkering. Excellent bore and mechanics.
