1) RAD. A good example of an RAD enlisted hewer measuring 15 3/8" overall. The blade is etched "Arbeit adelt" and is marked on the reverse "RJAD" in a triangle, "GES. GESCH.", and "CARL JUL KREBS (logo) SOLINGEN". Plated crossguard with integral ferrule, side straps, and eagle’s beak. Two-piece horn grips. Black enameled scabbard with plated mounts. CONDITION: blade has a gray patina and has been improperly sharpened. Hilt shows some loss of plating on the crossguard and ferrule area, as well as the side straps. Scabbard has had most of the black finish removed, and the top mount shows some visible oxidation with traces of oxidation at the tip. 2) RED CROSS. This dagger has an overall length of 16 3/8". It has a plain, sawback blade with a single medium fuller. The ricasso is marked "GES. GESCHUTZT." The front languet has a Red Cross eagle, and the rear languet is plain. Two-piece black composite grip, with the front grip showing crosshatching and the rear grip being plain. Black enameled scabbard with plated mounts, complete with original black leather frog. CONDITION: blade shows traces of original factory polish with scattered staining. Hilt generally shows light wear, but the front grip is broken and missing at the top. Scabbard shows average wear with one spot of oxidation on the body. Frog remains strong with just a few scuffs. (02-22952-4/BF). $700-1,000.
