2 WWII GERMAN HATS, 1 HELMET & 1 GAS MASK.

1) LUFTWAFFE TROPICAL. This early Luftwaffe Afrika Korps soft visor cap is commonly referred to as a “Hermann Meyer” cap. It is khaki in color w/ a slightly lighter khaki neck cover. The neck cover attaches to the band of the hat w/ 3 sew on, 4 hole tin buttons. There is a brown leather chin strap w/ 2 sm. iron frame buckles. The sew on insignia consists of an off-white Luftwaffe eagle along w/ an off-white, sewn wreath & cockade. The crown liner is orange & is stamped, “0/0250/2570” & “58”. CONDITION: hat generally shows light wear but has scattered staining particularly on the neck flap. Tin buttons have an oxidized finish. Chinstrap shows wear & buckles have oxidation.
2) SIDE CAP. An Army panzer green wool officer’s side cap. Cap has silver bullion piping throughout. Front insignia includes a flat silver bullion Army eagle w/ a pink panzer inverted “V” below & a bullion cockade beneath the “V”. The left side of the cap has a sew on aluminum oak leaf. Liner is dull olive green rayon. There is a sm. sweatband in the front of the cap. CONDITION: cap shows significant wear w/ scattered moth holes throughout. Interior is also well worn w/ minor losses.
3) HELMET. A good example of an M1942 German helmet. Helmet has a field gray green painted finish w/ pressed vents & an unrolled flared edge. Liner attachment rivets have a nickel finish. There is a circular painted device on the front w/ the center insignia scraped off. Inside rear of helmet is stamped, “62 5597”. The 8 finger, tan leather liner has 2 black ink stamps that read, “58” & “CfS”. Black leather chin strap. Possibly a late war issue for factory use or a post-war reissue. CONDITION: finish shows minor scuffs & scrapes. Liner & chinstrap are solid & show minimal wear but visible sweat stains.
4) GAS MASK. A German issue gas mask likely for Afrika Korps use. Mask has elastic securing straps on the top w/ 2 round eye lenses on the front. Canister & connection apparatus are painted olive green. The mask itself has several ink stamps including various numbers & letters along w/ a German eagle stamp on the left side. The canister is embossed on the bottom, “C.P.1935M.”. There are also numerous ink stamps & an eagle stamp on the canister. CONDITION: mask is a bit stiff & shows moderate wear. 1 Eye lens is cracked. (02-16647-4(4)/BF). $700-1,100.
