Cal. 20 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 1509. Bbls. 26" dovetailed fitted with flat matted game rib are engraved "John Harper" and "Birmingham, England." on tops. Bbl. flats are stamped with Birmingham Nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Case-hardened small-size boxlock action features automatic safety, a crossbolt third fastener, and a Miller single selective trigger with a rocking selector at the front of the blade. Action is engraved with 80 coverage varying size scroll within small scroll and line borders. The maker's name is on a scrolled ribbon on each side. Blued top lever, floor plate, and trigger guard are also scroll-engraved. S# is on trigger guardtang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of somewhat crotch-figured European walnut measures 14 1/4" over a silver-type pad. The stock has been fitted with an adj. comb. Point pattern checkering is at the grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .620", L .619". Restriction: R .006" (IC), L .015" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .031", L .032". STOCK: Adjustable. WEIGHT: 6 lb., 1 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is accompanied by a tan leather VC case with leather corners marked "Made in England". Lined in burgundy cloth. CONDITION: very good to fine, bbls. retaining 70–80% original blue with considerable silvering on sides and some freckling. Action retains traces of case color where protected and is mostly silver to gray. Blued parts retain as much as 10% of their original blue. Stocks retain most of a new oil finish, most likely done at the time of the addition of the adj. comb and new pad. Checkering has been cleaned on the grip and is original, showing wear on the forend. Bores are bright and shiny, with some minor frosting on the breech end of the left bbl. Chambers and forcing cones have been lengthened. Action is tight. Case still relatively light in color but has many rubs and marks with water damage on the bottom. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is good with rubs and a 2 1/2" by 1/2" chunk cut out of bbl. partition. (22-2173/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
