Marlin Model 1897 Take Down lever action rifle, .22 caliber, Serial #219471. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 24” octagon barrel with a full-length magazine tube. The barrel and magazine have both gone to a dark patina. The barrel is inscribed on the top flat, “PAPA TO MAMIE 1905”. The receiver has gone to a mixture of brown patina and toning case hardening with bright blue on the bolt. A period tang sight hasbeen added during the period of use. The smooth wood stocks are in good condition with dents and mars. The butt stock ends with a hard rubber Marlin marked butt plate. The bore is fair, the action functions and themarkings are sharp.
