Historic Borchardt 9mm semi-auto pistol with matching shoulder stock, holster, two extra clips manufactured by Loewe of Berlin, #938 obtained by our consignor directly from the grandson of Mexican President Alvaro Obregon with accompanying family archives and personal effects. General Obregon was one of the principal Generals of the Mexican Revolution; he and Pancho Villa along with Venustiano Carranza and Emiliano Zapata fought the principal battles that freed Mexico from the grip of longtime Dictator, Porfirio Diaz. In 1915, there was a division among the strongest Generals of Mexico and Villa allied himself with Zapata while Carranza allied himself with Obregon; Carranza was elected President promising Obregon the succession; Carranza and Obregon fell out with each other and Carranza was assassinated. Obregon became the President of Mexico in 1920 and his old friend Pablo Gonzalez became an important General acting on Obregon’s bequest; Gonzalez was a personal favorite of Porfirio Diaz for many years before the Revolution and while Diaz was still in power and it is recorded that a Borchardt was given by Diaz to Gonzalez. It is believed by collectors that this pistol is the recorded gift as there are two small holes in the left grip which appear to have had, at one time, a presentation plaque affixed on it. The provenance to Obregon is rock solid as our consignor includes checks, receipts and personal family photos and memorabilia obtained with this pistol from President Obregon’s Grandson, Eleazar Obregon. This pistol remains in fine to excellent original condition with 96%-98% original bright blue finish showing fire blue on small parts and springs; some slight erosion, pin prick pitting at the muzzle and rear of the frame with some just beginning normal age. The grips are fine to near excellent, the interior is excellent and all small parts are retained. Two matching mags are included along with matching board shoulder stock with serial numbered cheek piece and patent leather holster which I in very good condition with secure stitching and original straps. Also included with this lot is a porcelain coffee cup with the name Siquisiva which was the name of Obregon’s ranch and was also displayed on his personal railroad car before and during the time of his Presidency.. Also included is a group of many unpublished original photographs of Obregon, one with Jack Dempsey, one studio portrait size which is inscribed and dated 1927 by Obregon, also a campaign pin, family information, extensive documentation along with notarized statement signed by grandson Eleazar Obregon. A museum quality display with absolute first hand documentation and provenance as belonging to one of the “four horseman” of Mexico who changed the path of Mexico during the Mexican Revolution and grasped at reins of power from Diaz. Shipping can take up to 6-8 weeks. Buyer pays all packing, material, handling, shipping costs and 2% of invoice amount for insurance. International Shipments will be sent to an exporter and buyer agrees to pay all costs incurred including all shipping costs, insurance, exporter fees and all custom & applicable duty fees.
