Exceptional Colt 1851 Navy revolver factory 1871-72 conversion to .38 center fire, S/N 3711 and made in own serial number range using percussion parts and adding ejector rod and loading gate with outside spring secured by screw (See Jordan’s book Page 147 Fig. 13-7 reference). This fine navy shows a period large blade sight with neat base professionally made and inletted at the muzzle. The revolver shows 75%-85% bright original blue and case colors. Sharp markings and most of the original scene. Some scratching by lug beneath the wedge on the left side of the barrel and minor carry wear and use. All matching numbers. The grips are almost fine with 80%-90% original varnish and just minor wear at the bottom and edges. Crisp, tight and bright interior showing very little use. Sharp markings. Gary Wiemann collection. Note: This revolver was obtained by purchase from a great grandson of Brigham Young who resided in Laguna Beach along with a fancy Sharps pistol carbine approximately 20 years ago. The documentation with this pistol was not located in Mr. Wiemann’s estate but may be mentioned in the document that authenticated provenance on the ultra-fine Sharps which accompanied this pistol. Est.: $7,000-$14,000
