Early Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver, .36 caliber, Serial #5915. The pistol is in very good overall condition with a 7 ½” octagon barrel. The barrel has a German silver blade front sight and rounded edges at the muzzle from holster wear. The metal surfaces are primarily brown patina with small amounts of original blue still visible in protected areas under the lever. The cylinder shows 65%-75% of the scene withsharp markings and all original nipples intact. The brass straps are have taken on a pleasing patina with traces of silver finish still evident near the trigger guard and all matching visible serial numbers. The smooth wood slim Jim grips are in good condition with small chips at the toe. The action is crisp and the markings are sharp on this early Gold Rush era Navy. The lot includes a period hand tooled leather flap holster infair condition. Est.: $1,500-$2,500. (Antique).
