2nd Pattern 1853 Enfield Three-Banded Rifled Musket, by Tower (1856), NVSN, .577 cal., 36'' barrel, lion and ''WD'' cartouched walnut stock, brass buttplate, triggerguard and forend cap. Bottom edge of stock is neatly stamped ''J.P. Beadle-J. Borne New ImG7''. James P. Beadle (1863-1947) was an English painter of historical and military scenes. He is famous for battlescapes depicting scenes from the Peninsula War, Franco-Prussian War, Boer War, and WWI. His father was Major Gen. James P. Beadle as well. His most notable work being ''Neuve Chapelle'', 10 March 1915, ''Dawn: Waiting to Go Over, and Breaking the Hindenburg Line''. Ramrod and WWI era leather sling are present, as is leather nipple cover. Condition is very good to fine with light to moderate general frosting to barrel assembly. Stock with just light marks from handling. Action is crisp, bore is fair. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (Antique)
