OF NORTH CAROLINA BUTTONS.
1) HILLSBOROUGH MILITARY ACADEMY. A nice example of a cadet button of Hillsborough Military Academy manufactured in the North prior to the Civil War and utilized by Confederate troops who likely attended HMA. Albert # SU-150-Bv. Face depicts a central 5 pointed star flanked by, "NC" with "HILLSBOROUGH MILITARY ACADEMY" around the outside border. The reverse reads, "H.& G. N. Y. SCHUYLER. ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button shows substantial original gilded finish.
2) NORTH CAROLINA. A good example of a locally produced Civil War period North Carolina Militia button, made by Myers, worn by soldiers serving in the Confederacy. Albert # NC-8-A. Face depicts a folky State Seal of North Carolina with "NORTH CAROLINA" above. The reverse reads RMDC, "S.A.MYERS RICHMOND VA. ". Shank is a bit loose but stands erect. CONDITION: button has significant original gilded finish remaining.
3) NORTH CAROLINA. A nice example of what is likely a locally produced Civil War period North Carolina Militia button, possibly made by Froelich. Albert # NC-14-A. Face depicts a multi-rayed 8 pointed starburst with "NC" in the center. The reverse is blank. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button has about 50% of original gilded finish remaining.
