1) Overall length: 13 1/2". Blade length: 8". Blade has an initial medial ridge that flattens as it approaches the crossguard. The ricasso area is stamped "I * XL G. WOSTENHOLM & SON WASHINGTON WORKS" on both sides. Nickel silver crossguard hand engraved "IXL-1" possibly by a museum. 2 Piece antler grip with silver escutcheon plate with the hand engraved initials "HW". The brass & leather sheath is made from the bottom 9 1/4" of an early sword scabbard. CONDITION: knife shows light wear overall. Sheath shows moderate to heavy wear. 2) Overall length: 10". Blade length: 5 3/4". Blade is marked along the spine "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON WASHINGTON WORKS SHEFFIELD" on one side. The ricasso is marked "I * XL". Nickel silver crossguard with 2 piece mother of pearl grips. One grip has a small elliptical silver escutcheon. Brown leather sheath likely not original to the knife. CONDITION: blade shows evidence of sharpening. There are minor chips to the grips at the pommel. 3) Overall length: 8 1/2". Blade length: 4 1/2". Blade is marked along the spine "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON WASHINGTON WORKS SHEFFIELD" on one side. The ricasso is marked "I * XL". Nickel silver crossguard with 2 piece certifiably antique ivory grips. There is a small elliptical escutcheon in one of the grips. Original sheath with silver throat and missing tip. CONDITION: blade shows evidence of sharpening. The grip & crossguard have a small lead repair where they meet. There are 2 small chips to the grip at the pommel. Sheath shows moderate wear. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor.
