PEACE MEDALS. These 3 medals appear to be solid silver and are exceptionally well-done. They represent early Indian Peace medals that today sell for untold thousands. The quality of the etching is superb and they emulate well the original examples. 1) TREATY OF GREENVILLE. An oval medal measuring 4 1/4" x 3" drilled for suspension. Both sides are similarly engraved and include a large spread-winged American eagle with a glory above and an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ribbon in its beak. Below this eagle is a ribbon on the border that reads, "TREATY of GREENVILLE . 3td August 1795". 2) WASHINGTON. An oval medal measuring 4" x 3 1/4" with a loop at the top. The obverse depicts a spread winged American eagle with a large shield on its chest. There are 13 five pointed stars above the eagle and a glory above that. The upper border of the medal reads, "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". The reverse depicts an Indian handing a pipe to Lady Liberty. The upper border reads, "G. WASHINGTON PRESIDENT.". The lower border has the date "1789". 3) WASHINGTON. An oval medal measuring 4" x 2 3/4" with a loop at the top. The obverse depicts a spread winged American eagle with a shield on its chest. There are 12 six-pointed stars above the eagle and a glory with rays above that. The reverse depicts an Indian smoking a pipe that he has received from General Washington. There is a farm scene and trees in the background. The lower section of the medal reads, "GEORGE WASHINGTON PRESIDENT 1793". CONDITION: all medals show light handling wear. (02-17477/BF). $700-1,100.
