No.1: Model 1917-18 Trench Knife. 8 7/8" triangular blade. 13 7/8" overall. Knuckle bow is marked on front w/ "U.S. / L.F.&C. / 1917". Knife is made w/ knuckle bow & has seven pyramidal knobs. Smooth one piece walnut grip w/ finger grooves. Green leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. Scabbard marked faintly "JEWELL-1918". CONDITION: blade has light wear & scattered spots of oxidation, retaining nearly half its original blue. Balance of metal has wear, scattered oxidation & light pitting. Grip has light wear & staining. Well-worn scabbard w/ loose rivets. No.2: Model 1917-18 Trench Knife. 9" triangular blade. 14" overall. Marked on front of crossguard "U.S. / L.F.&C. / 1917". Knuckle bow has seven pyramidal knobs. Smooth walnut grip w/ finger grooves. Green leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. Scabbard marked "JEWELL-1918". Metal tip is pierced by what appears to be a shell fragment. CONDITION: blade has been polished bright, but is turning gray. Balance of metal has worn blackened appearance w/ light oxidation. Grip has moderate wear, dents & handling marks w/ notable chip on right side. Scabbard is worn w/ loose tip in throat. No.3: Mark One U.S. Trench Knife. 6 3/4" double-edged bright blade. 11 1/2" overall. Cast brass handle w/ knuckle bows. Handle is marked on right side w/ "U.S. / 1918". Pommel has pointed retaining nut which appears to be plated bright. CONDITION: unmarked blade shows a high polish. Edges have been sharpened. Brass handle has a pleasing patina. Scabbard is not present. (02-23845/RW). NON-GUN. $900-1,200.
