1) ARTILLERY. A nice example of a US M1902 Artillery visor cap. Cap has a blue crown with red & blue band. The front has a screw-back gilded brass crossed cannon with the number “21” below. Black leather chinstrap with M1903 side buttons. Black visor has a brown underside, and there is a brown leather sweatband. CONDITION: light wear overall with a little heat damage to the visor. 2) OFFICER. A fine example of a Spanish-American War era officer’s kepi with a dark blue crown with a gold & silver embroidered bullion “US” in wreath cap device on the front. Gold bullion cord chinstrap with “US” staff buttons on the side. Tarred leather visor with a brown sweatband. The black interior has an impressed label that reads “JACOB REED’S SONS FOUNDED 1824 (eagle) PHILADELPHIA”. CONDITION: there is scattered moth damage to the crown. The visor shows heat damage. 3) INFANTRY. A US M1895 style Infantry cap with a dark blue to black body featuring a gilded brass crossed rifle insignia on the front with the number “15” above and “E” below. Leather chinstrap with staff-like buttons on the sides. Tarred leather-bound visor with brown leather sweatband. The black interior lining is marked “WM.H. HORSTMANN COMPANY TRADE MARK PHILADELPHIA”. CONDITION: hat is in solid condition but shows light to moderate wear overall. 4) NAVY. A Spanish-American War period 2 WWI Naval fore & aft hat. Hat shows beaver construction with patterned black edging. There is a gold bullion tassel front & back with 1” gold tape trim on the left side framing a large Naval officer’s button. The interior label reads “WM.H. HORSTMANN COMPANY TRADE MARK PHILADELPHIA”. CONDITION: hat shows moderate wear with some loss of knap. (02-19028/BF). $400-600.
