This outfitter pioneered Walrus hunting in Nunavut by conducting the first ever non-resident and non-aboriginal hunt in 1995. The summer Walrus Hunt period is truly a spectacular time to experience the Canadian Arctic. The hunts are conducted along the floe edge where open sea meets the frozen sea. It is a dramatic and dynamic ecosystem that has huge chunks of broken ice constantly shifting and moving with the wind, ocean currents and tides. Aided by their ivory tusks, the Walrus lift themselves onto the floe to rest.
Numerous walrus taken with this outfitter have been entered into the record books with many in the top ten list. This is a hunt suited for non-hunting observers interested in photographic opportunities, Inuit Culture and the Arctic way of life.
Includes the following:
• Guide serve 1x2 (2 guides per hunter)
• Hunt is conducted over a five-day period to factor in possible bad weather caused by high winds or fog
• Motorized boat including gas and oil
• All meals while hunting
• Personal floatation suit while out on boat
• Extraction of tusks and baculum bone
• A federal Marine Mammal Export License (MMTL) and a Nunavut Wildlife Export Permit
Please Note: Schedule this hunt with the outfitter for open dates in July or early August 2019 or 2020. Hotel accommodations and meals are not included (staying at the community hotel for the hunt is mandatory). This is a walrus hunt, hunting of seals during or after a walrus hunt may be possible at the guide’s discretion and arranged by the client with his guides. A $5 CAD seal license is required to hunt seals. A non-hunting observer can be added for $3,850 USD. Airfare is not included. Not included are hunting licenses ($5 CAD), Canadian firearms import license ($25 CAD), general administration fee ($150 USD), artic flight booking fee ($170 USD includes a one-time itinerary change), artic wildlife research fund ($250 USD), packing and shipping, and gratuities. For clients unable to bring Atlantic walrus tusks and capes home due to regulations such as the US Marine Mammal Protection Act, trophy replicas can be made by any one of our recommended taxidermists.
