Scoop Lake Outfitters’ 2.5 million acres of exclusive guide area is home to some of the most diverse wildlife populations in British Columbia. During the winter of 1984 75 elk were transplanted into the Scoop Lake guide area. The following winter of 1985 75 more elk were caught in Elk Island Park and transplanted. In 1989 they had their first elk hunt, and since then they have been having a modest harvest each season. They now have a flourishing herd of elk. They have opted to harvest quality bulls verse quantity.
Since 1989 they have harvested bulls in the 390 class with our average elk scoring over 300 Boone and Crocket, if you are willing to turn down bulls your chances are good to see a bull in the 330 class or better. Scoop Lake’s elk season is September 5th-15th. These hunts are conducted on foot starting often before sun rise. You are often hunting from the moment you leave camp. Or you may have an hour or so hike on relatively flat ground to the spot you hope to find success. These hunts can be done from a cabin but often to get in on the bigger bulls it may involve tenting with the elk. The days are long often up before daylight back in camp for lunch and a siesta and back out for an evening hunt. The terrain is relatively flat with aspen and pine forest. They call the elk, no spot and stalk.
Accommodations and meals while in camp are all included. This hunt can be upgraded to include additional game, contact Darwin and Wendy for more information. Additional game available may include mountain goat, black bear and/or moose.
Hunting license, species tag(s), government royalties and Wildlife Conservation Fee are not included. Airfare and hotel room nights while in transit to Watson Lake and the air charter fee into Scoop Lake, $2,500 USD, are also not included in this package
