This spring black bear hunt donated by Frank Badey of Omineca Guides and Outfitters includes guided hunt fees for one black bear for each hunter. This 2x1 hunt takes place in British Columbia near Fort St James, approximately 3 hours north of Prince George. You can fly into Prince George Airport and arrange transfer or drive directly to the lake where the lodge is situated. Available dates: May/June or August/September.
This is a great opportunity for a B&C black bear with some well into the seven-foot class. Also a strong population of brown-phase bears from dark chocolate to blonde. This is a true spot and stalk hunt; no bait or dogs are used. While hunting you'll see many bears (between 3 to 10 a day). This hunt is on old logging cuts and bush trails. In the spring, new dandelion and clover grow to entice big bears coming out of hibernation. In the fall, ripe wild berries draw the bears out into open hillsides.
Nonhunters are welcome and may join for $125 per day.
Also available to add: 1x1 guiding ($2,250); second black bear ($1,450).
Accommodations are in a comfortable lakeside lodge with private cabins. Fishing, canoeing and kayaking are right at the front door!
Transportation: Lodge is located on Grassham Lake, BC which is a three hour drive from Prince George, BC. Hunters can drive themselves to the lake. Or if you decide to fly, transport from Prince George Airport to and from the lodge can be arranged for additional cost.
This hunt may be booked for spring 2024, early fall 2024 or spring 2025.
Consult with Frank for best available dates.
Included: Lodging, rustic gourmet meals, 2x1 guide, ground transportation in hunting area, field-dressing and transport of game to camp, assistance with trophy and meat care.
Extra Costs: taxes, royalties, license, tags and fees - $1,250 per hunter.
