This Fisher, Marten & Weasel trapping trip is being offered by Emerson (Butch) Bornman.
The trip is six days and seven nights of Big Woods Trapping out of my cabin in Portage Lake, Maine. Trapping will be done in the North Maine Woods (NMW). Parts of the NMW require a gate pass @ $16 per day (no charge if over 70 years old). The fee for a Non-Resident Maine Trapping license is $318.00. The general trapping season will open on November 3, 2024. The auction winner will need to provide their transportation to Portage Lake Maine. Pick up at the airport in Presque Isle Maine (PQI) is available at no charge.
All meals, lodging, trapline transportation and trapping equipment will be provided. The cabin has running water, electricity & Internet service. Verizon cell phones work well at the cabin. The lucky winner will need to provide their clothing and personal items.
Weather in November can be tricky. Be prepared for temperatures between zero and sixty degrees. Snow depth will be between zero inches to two feet.
Animal populations and their willingness to be trapped vary year to year. In a week of trapping near Portage Lake I expect to catch several martens and several fishers. The weasels may or may not show up. The trapper in 2019 caught about three martens, three fishers and no weasels. The trappers in 2020 caught more than ten of each. The trappers in 2021 & 2022 & 2023 caught marten, fisher & weasels. The trip is for a single trapper, and they may keep all caught animals. A second person can be brought along for a fee of $500 paid to E. Bornman.
Important note: E. Bornman will be acting as a guide and the guest trapper will do most of the work. Depending on arrival date there may or may not be traps already set. Fresh trapping ground will be available.

Some additional information. The trapping week will be seven days in the last half of November. Additional days can be added if you buy the food & gas. December is hit or miss as snow may stop woods travel.

Online bidders are encouraged to remain available via cell phone during the bidding process.
4. Online bidders agree not to use any device, software or routine to interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of any transaction being conducted during the online auction.
5. FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC reserves the right, for any reason, in its sole discretion, to terminate, change or suspend any aspect of the online auction.
6. If bidder dissatisfaction occurs with the online auction in any way, bidder’s only recourse is to immediately discontinue use of the online auction before items have been purchased.
7. FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC reserves the right to terminate bidder registration and use of the online auction and impose limits on certain features of the online auction or restrict bidder access to, or use of, part or the entire online auction without notice or penalty.

11. Bidder acknowledges that the online auction bidding phase is conducted electronically and relies on hardware and software that may malfunction without warning. FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC will not be responsible for error or failures to execute bids placed via the internet, including, without limitation, errors or failures caused by (i) a loss of connection on FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC `s or bidder`s end (ii) a breakdown or problems with the online bidding software and /or (iii) a breakdown or problems with a bidder`s internet connection, computer or system. Disputes regarding auction items purchased during the FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC Auction, or at any other time, shall be submitted to the FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC Board in writing and shall detail the basis for the dispute and the grounds supporting a refund. The FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC Board may, in its sole and absolute discretion, approve an auction credit for the amount paid, deny relief, or, in extraordinary circumstances, approve a refund of the amount paid. Without limitation, credits or refunds will not be given if the auction winner is unable to utilize the purchased item in the time described in the auction description due to illness, work conflicts, personal or family conflicts or death(s), travel delays, or cancellations or any other similar matters affecting the auction buyer that are outside of the control of FUR TAKERS OF AMERICA, INC.
