BUTTONS. All of these buttons were produced in England under contract to the Confederate Government. Generally, they were imported from England by blockade runners to Southern ports of entry & subsequently utilized throughout the Confederacy.
1) ENGINEER. A fine example of a Confederate Engineer coat button commonly known as a stippled, Old English “E”. Albert # CS-153-A. Face depicts a single letter “E” in Old English style. The reverse is marked, “H T & B * MANCHESTER * ”. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains nearly all of its original gilded finish.
2) RIFLEMAN. A fine example of a Confederate Rifleman coat button commonly known as a stippled, block “R”. Albert # CS-201-A. Face depicts a single letter “R” in a block style. The reverse is marked, “H T & B * MANCHESTER * ”. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains nearly all of its original gilded finish.
