1) PALMETTO GUARD. A rare example of a Civil War period coat button used by the Palmetto Guard of South Carolina. Albert # SC-17-A. The face depicts a palmetto tree w/ serpent, flanked by a “C” & “S” & the state motto is around the rim. The reverse is marked, “ (lion passant) EXTRA GOLD QUALT”. Full straight shank. CONDITION: buttons show substantial original gilding.

The face depicts the State Seal of South Carolina & the reverse is marked, “H T & B * MANCHESTER * “. Full straight shanks. CONDITION: all buttons retain most of their original gilded finish.
5) SCHUYLER. An exceptional example of a Civil War period coat button used by South Carolina militia troops. Alberts # SC-13-A4. The face depicts the State Seal of South Carolina & the reverse is marked, RMDC “SCHUYLER . H. &. G. N. YORK. “. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains all of its original gilded finish.
6) SMITH. A good example of a Civil War period coat button used by South Carolina militia troops. Alberts # SC-13-A5. The face depicts the State Seal of South Carolina & the reverse is marked, RMDC “WM.H.SMITH & CO .NEW-YORK. “. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains traces of its original gilded finish. There is a very, very slight push in the face.

The face depicts the State Seal of South Carolina & the reverse is marked, “HORSTMANN & ALLIEN . N . Y . “. Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains most of its original gilded finish.
