BELONGING TO AIR FORCE COLONEL JAMES HILTON. This large family lot contains a huge variety of items, mostly belonging to Air Force Colonel James B. Hilton. There are also US items from as early as WWI, WWII items, Army Band items from another relative, and even a few WWII German pieces. Specifically, the group includes a large ziplock bag containing pilot’s wings, senior pilot’s wings, command senior pilot wings, and Air Force Missileman Badges. Another large ziplock contains scores of officer rank insignia from Captain through Bird Colonel. There are several nametags for Colonel Hilton and a variety of ribbon bars, many of which would have been associated with Hilton. There is a WWI Victory Medal accompanied by a 1916 Track & Field Medal, Air Force buttons, Air Force cuff links, a bullion Air Force blazer patch, foreign aviator wings, a WWI VFW Medal, German hunting pins and badges, and a manual for infantry dated 1917. There is a group of American medals, which includes two ETO Campaigns, one WWII Army of Occupation, one American Campaign Medal, and one National Defense Medal. There is a bar of miniature medals that includes an Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, American Campaign, ETO Campaign, WWII Victory, and National Defense. Also included are five of Colonel Hilton’s dog tags and a variety of small lapel pins and other insignia. There is a book titled "Take Off THE OFFICIAL HANDBOOK of the Corps of Aviation Cadets" contained in a zippered cotton khaki pouch. Another large Ziploc bag contains various patches, insignia, buckles, and awards for a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Band. This extensive lot also includes four framed, signed photographs of Senior Air Force Generals to Colonel Hilton, a scrapbook of various orders and instructions associated with Colonel Hilton, and an autopen-signed document from President Ronald Reagan in memory of James B. Hilton. Lastly, WWI and WWII German items include a WWI 2nd Class Iron Cross with no ribbon, a WWII Hitler tinnie and "TAG DER ARBEIT" tinnie, and a May Day tinnie of 1939. CONDITION: condition varies somewhat in this lot but the vast majority of items show very light to no wear. Earlier items, of course, show more notable wear. (02-23086/BF). $500-800.
