A RARE WWII GERMAN ENLISTED NCO SS VETERINARIAN

PEAKED CAP & A FINE SCHUTZPOLIZEI SHAKO.
1) SS VETERINARIAN PEAKED CAP. A fine & rare example of an enlisted NCO grade WWII German Veterinarian peaked cap. The crown is constructed of field green wool & the band appears to be black wool with some nap. The entire cap is piped in a carmine/pink denoting the owner’s attachment to a veterinarian unit. The front shows a metal SS eagle over a metal Death’s Head device. Black leather, 2 buckle chinstrap with central rectangular loop & black side buttons. Black visor with dark green underside. Brown leather sweatband with a dull, reddish tan, polished cotton lining. The inside crown lining is dull orange with only traces of the sweatshield remaining. The marking under the sweatshield remains clear & reads, “Fewegla (logo) Deutsche Wertarbeit”. CONDITION: hat shows scattered light mothing with a sm. hole at the peak & a period sewn hole near the rear seam. Sweatband has very minor losses at the extreme rear. Hat shows general wear but no abuse.
2) SCHUTZPOLITZEI SHAKO. A very fine example of a standard WWII German Schutzpolitzei shako with a black leather finished crown, chinstrap, visor & rear visor denoting use by city or town police. The underside of the visors is dark green. The body of the shako is covered in green wool felt & has 2 screened vent holes on each side. There is a lg. aluminum police eagle on the front with an aluminum cockade above. The side posts & chinstrap buckles are also aluminum. Light tan leather, 9 finger liner with missing tie. The inside crown is labeled, “HANS ROMER * Neu-Ulm (Donau) * “ & “Echt Fiber-Tschako”. The crown is also stamped with the size designation “54 1/2”. CONDITION: there are a few minor moth nips to the wool body of the shako. Black leather shows a couple of scuffs & scrapes. Overall, the shako is solid & quite attractive.
