ACGG is pleased to present the DSC President's Rifle for 2023 - Fraser Side Lever Falling Block in .303 British. The project began with an authentically recreated Fraser action from Steve Earl Products and an oversized 1-1/2" cut-rifled barrel blank donated by John Krieger of Krieger Barrels. Metalsmith Glenn Fewless CNC machined an extraordinary barrel contour featuring integral quarter-rib, full length rib and front sight base. The quarter-rib was also machined to accept scope mounts if desired. Fewless fit and chambered the barrel to match grade tolerances befitting the quality of the rifle and also manufactured all of the hardware for the rifle including custom folding rear sight, sling mounts, grip cap and checkered steel buttplate. Stockmaker, Dan Rossiter, designed the European walnut stock to emulate 1870-80's British rifles and added slightly enlarged stock panels on each side and bottom, fore and aft of the action. The project's coordinator, Doug Mann, chose a broken-point style checkering that encircles the top and sides of the grip with one uninterrupted pattern. Chris Rossiter engraved the Fraser with an English Rose and Scroll design. The sides, bottom and guard bow feature rose and scroll and there is a lovely single rose on top of the action. Roger Ferrell finished the metalwork with a French Grey look using the labor-intensive case hardening method. Each of the screws was nitre blued giving a sparkle to the completed rifle project. Ferrell also complete assembled the finished rifle. This collaboration was made possible by each of the craftsmen who donated their talents and Luxus Walnut who donated the stock wood. This one-of-a-kind custom Fraser Falling Block rifle has a 26" barrel, weighs 7lb. 6 oz. and is set up with a 3 lb. trigger pull. The stock dimensions are very shootable at a 14" length of pull, 2" drop at the comb and 3" drop at the heel. The rifle feels quite lively in the hands and should be a pleasure to carry afield hunting. Rifle was sighted in using the original 215 grain bullet.
