ALASKA CHUGACH DALL
Chugach Mountains, Alaska, special permit for 2013: This hunt could be the next best thing to Kluane for an exclusive opportunity to take an unusually large Dall’s ram in wild and lightly harvested country. Imagine hunting anywhere in this Chugach Mountains permit area where the growth potential can produce the largest huntable Dall’s rams in today’s world. The area contains about 800 square miles of sheep habitat with an estimated population approaching 2,000 sheep. Eighty five permits for harvest of full curl rams are available in 29 hunt areas, and recent trophy harvests have been reduced to about 30 full curl rams. If you buy this permit, you can hunt in any or all of these areas, 25 square miles of which were newly opened three years ago to only one resident permit per year after having been closed for more than twenty generations of rams. The first three permit purchasers took rams measuring 41 1/2” X 13,” 42 1/2” X 14. and a 39 7/8” X 14 1/4” from these newly-opened areas. Rumors are that a bigger one is still there, and the opportunity to go over 40” is obviously there. But, is the big one there? Aerial scouting for rams by guides in Alaska is now against state ethics regulations, so the challenges are greater than ever. Are you willing to take the challenge? Here’s a reason to: Both the Alaska Chapter and the Foundation have agreed to return 95% of the auction price to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in support of its new Dall’s sheep research program. This permit has sold for $65-$100,000 dollars since the exclusive areas were opened three years ago. We think the opportunities to take an unusually large Dall’s ram in Alaska in a near-exclusive situation with proven guides while making a significant contribution to Dall’s sheep management in Alaska are unmatched.

A 5% buyers premium will be added to the final bid price of each special permit sold, unless prohibited by statute. Proceeds will be dedicated to WSF Conservation Initiatives.
