ENGRAVER, BILL MAINS OF NEW YORK. S# 355. The "Alaskan Silversmith" Sid Bell was a well known silversmith, engraver, carver in Tully, NY. Bill Mains was a well known master engraver for Colt (1967-1972) & built knives around Buffalo NY during the late 1960's and early 1970's. Overall: 7 1/2". Blade 3 5/8" marked on spine "SID BELL" & having thumb notches. Brass single hilt marked "MAINS" & "355"; back flat has trademark buffalo logo. Stag bone handle w/ Main's Custom Knives medallion on brass butt cap. Brown leather sheath. CONDITION: blade ver good showing mildew, spots of verdigris & light wear. Sheath in very good condition w/ verdigris on brass snap. PROVENANCE: From the personal collection of Brad Shepherd. (02-19843-3/MD). $300-500.
