ADVERTISING LITHOGRAPH ON TIN. Alexander Pope, 1849-1924, was one of the most renowned painters of the Naturalism art movement. He painted "Trophies of the Hunt" in 1912 & Winchester first produced it as a lithograph on tin in 1913. It depicts a Win. 1886 lightweight lever action rifle & Win. Model 1912 slide action shotgun hanging on a moose rack w/ game bag & 3 mallards. A shot & powder snake hanging on the left horn while a powder horn & dog leash are hanging off right horn. The scene is painted against a dark green wall w/ beveled trim. Placard at bottom has Winchester red "W" trademark w/ slogan "We Recommend and Sell / WINCHESTER / Cartridges and Guns". Artist's signature found in lower left corner. The lithograph is framed by 5 1/2" pine boards w/ dark walnut stain. Size 36" x 30". Frame size 46 3/8" x 40 1/2". CONDITION: fine. Lower left corner shows series of sm. scratches w/ other sm. scratches on lower portions. Upper right corner shows an area of staining w/ spots of pinprick oxidation. Frame shows scattered scratches & finish marks. (02-13416/DS). $6,000-9,000.
