This will be the 4th season for this special youth hunting opportunity for a desert bighorn ram. (The age criteria for a youth hunt only is: A hunter must be under 18 years of age on the opening day of the hunt and possess a hunter education course or mentored youth program number.)
The relationship between the Wild Sheep Foundation, Armendaris Ranch, NMDGF, and Turner Ranch Outfitting continues with great success. To date, all of our hunts have produced a trophy ram. This is an expansive and rough mountain range with limited road access for glassing and hunting. We have a comfortable bunkhouse near the base of the hunting area that is used for our youth hunter and their parent/mentor. Guide, vehicle, and meals are provided.
*The winning bidder will be responsible for purchasing their license/permit from the NMDGF. Approximate youth fees are: $3195 for non-resident and $171 for resident.
*The proceeds generated at this auction will help provide outdoor experiences for our future sportsmen.
*The hunt will occur November 20-29/2015 in the Fra Cristobal Mountains. This wild sheep population has provided many hunted and relocation animals to date.
* A 501c3 organization will determine the future use for the generated funds.
*A typical day will be spent driving and hiking with the potential for many hours of glassing areas to locate rams. We have lunch on the mountain and return to camp after dark. You can expect help determining age and trophy quality as well as the physical demand and practicality of a stalk. Please understand this can be a physically demanding hunt that can challenge any of us!
*We enforce a wounding policy on our private land guided hunts to encourage responsibility for careful shot placement, closest possible stalks, and an enjoyable experience with respect to wildlife. “If an animal is wounded, every effort from that point on will be for that animal only, until the hunt terminates.”
The ranch staff looks forward to sharing the mountain and the experience of a lifetime!
