SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 30 Luger. S# 24447. Bbl. 11 3/4". Beautifully restored Model 1902 Luger Carbine semi-automatic pistol, mfg. by DWM for commercial sales. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Major metal components exhibit a professionally reapplied blue finish, with some smaller components exhibiting a reheated straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, which appear to have been re-checkered at one time. Checkered wood schnabel tip forend appears to have been sanded, re-checkered, and revarnished. Contemporary production detachable checkered wood shoulder stock does not fit properly on the frame lug. Ramped blade front sight with 3-position carbine rear sight. Additional features include the old model frame and breechblock, a flat mainspring, dished toggle "ears," as well as a frame-mounted anti-rebound arm. All serialized numbers are matching, including the forend. MAGS: one 8-rd., with wood bottom appearing to have been sanded at one time. CONDITION: extremely fine, as professionally restored, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish overall, exhibiting a few scattered spots of faint pitting beneath the finish. Strawed and nitre blue components are excellent overall. Dark bore, exhibiting pitting while retaining fair rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered nicks to the diamonds. Left grip exhibits two replaced sections of wood (only visible on interior), with a crack present on the interior stemming from the grip screw and a chip present on the bottom left corner. Buttstock is very good to excellent, showing some superficial marks from handling and storage. Stock iron exhibits oxidation and some scattered spots of pitting. Forend shows some light smoothing to the checkering, with a large crack stemming from the rear and with several notable cracks at and around the tip. A finely restored and very attractive DWM Model 1902 Luger Carbine. (24-4136/MLW). CURIO. $5,000-8,000.
