SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 42146. Bbl. 3 1/2". Originally mfg. as a standard Model 1908, this example was subsequently updated to the Model 1908/34 configuration via the addition of a new, sturdier slide. The left side of the bbl. is marked with patent information, followed by a "20." above an Austrian proof, with additional patent information and an Austrian "NPV" proof marked on the right. Rear grip strap is engraved "S.W. 1692," indicating Austrian police issue. Metal components exhibit a period-reapplied blue finish overall. The frame is mounted with 2-piece Steyr checkered black hard rubber grips. Dovetailed blade front sight with integral V-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: One 7-rd. CONDITION: Good, with metal components retaining the majority of their period-reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting overall. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered nicks and marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-7185/MLW). CURIO. $200-300.
