Hunt is for Fall of 2026
We hunt record-class Alaska/Yukon moose in the northern Talkeetna Mountains and within the World famous southeastern Nelchina Basin. These regions have produced exceptional World-Class bull moose since the early 1930’s and continue to produce gigantic trophy moose even to this day. Bull moose within the 10,000+ square mile Guide Use Area average at least 60 inches in antler width and most trophy bulls score well in excess of 200 Boone & Crockett inches. THESE ARE BIG MOOSE!

Hunts in pursuit of Alaska/Yukon moose are conducted during the month of September, when all nuances and facets of the moose rut are present and corresponding rutting behavior is evident. We conduct only two (2) moose hunts each year and is one-on-one.
Hunts are ten (10) days duration; all-inclusive from Anchorage, Alaska. This includes ground transportation and air charter to/from the field.

Black bear, wolf and wolverine are available no charge during trophy bull moose hunts. Interior mountain grizzly, Dall sheep and/or mountain goat are available on a fee, when killed in addition to killing a bull moose. So in most instances, a hunter can kill other species of big game when pursuing Alaska/Yukon moose.

Access to various hunting camps is via highly modified Piper PA-18 aircraft and all hunting is done on foot. Camps consist of an expedition-quality mountaineering tent per each person, for privacy and adequate space. Camps are comfortable, warm and dry. The daily food menu is based on a high energy expedition diet that I’ve personally developed over the past many years. There are plenty of food and beverages available and you WILL NOT go hungry.

A hunter should be in reasonably good shape, because moose hunting is not easy. Hiking and climbing are usually involved, and then packing a 1,600 pound moose is required after the kill. So, a hunter should be in reasonable physical condition for his or her age. A packer is available on request, but at additional cost.

A typical day begins with breakfast at the crack of light and then climbing to a vantage point so that quality 10x42 binoculars can be used to survey the terrain, searching for trophy bull moose. Typically, we sit all day long, until we find a bull worth chasing. This is a highly effective way to hunt extremely large Alaska/Yukon moose and it’s the preferred hunting tactic. The country is vast and the prolonged use of optics is the absolute best way to find moose within it.

Alaska/Yukon moose are not especially difficult to kill with a rifle. Any caliber from .270 Winchester on up will easily kill a 1,600 pound bull moose. However, it’s important to use heavy-for-caliber cup-and-core type bullets, such as Remington Core Lokt, Nosler Partition, Nosler Accubond or Hornaday Interbond.

Moose tags are on a draw basis for the trophy unit but have been a high success to draw recently. This hunt is for Fall of 2026

Not included: Alaska hunting license, moose tag, flight into/out of Anchorage.
Additional hunter may be added.
