Own an piece of Texas history with this 1906 COLORADO, TEXAS and MEXICO RAILROAD COMPANY of OKLAHOMA $400 STOCK CERTIFICATE, donated by Keith Richard of Hill Country Custom Knives. Keith’s great grandfather, Thomas Slaten, was born in Georgia in 1853 and later in life moved to Oklahoma to become a cowboy. He bought a saloon in Mangum, Oklahoma, and his opera house became the most successful opera house in the territory. Family lore has it that Thomas was quite a colorful character, if not a downright scoundrel! It’s thought that the Richard family property, the ZV Ranch was won in poker game. Later, and with several other men, Slaten formed a corporation envisioning a railroad to help the territory. But alas with the coming of statehood the railroad was never built and the history and fate of the corporation has been lost to time, save for the unsold stock certificates. An copy of the incorporation papers in on the back of this framed certificate. Many antique railroad stock certificates are listed in the thousands of dollars on eBay. Get this slice of Texas history today for far less! This is a 100% Donation!
