Antique Indian Wars Era Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Cavalry Revolver, ''U.S.'' and ''D.F.C.'' marked, #119031, .45 Colt CF cal., 7.5'' barrel, integral blade front sight and right-side cartridge ejector rod, fluted round cylinder marked ''9031'' on periphery and ''2'' on rear face; solid frame has the early-style cylinder pin retaining screw and right-side hinged loading gate (batch marked ''109''), marked with the three-line 1871-72-75 patent dates and ''U.S.'' on left, and ''D.F.C.'' ahead of front screw; steel gripstraps are fitted with one-piece walnut grips bearing an ''1887/JGB'' (U.S. Ordnance inspector Capt. John G. Butler) script cartouche at left, script ''DFC'' (sub-inspector David. F. Clark) on right, tiny ''D.F.C.'' at left butt and three notches at right butt. Mfg'd 1887, originally with blued barrel, cylinder and gripstraps, case hardened frame and oil-stained grips. Condition is very good. Barrel address is obscured by pitting from holster carry and likely refinishing, ejector rod has the later crescent-shaped head; cylinder retains approx. 80% of what appears to be thin original blue; frame shows mottled original case colors at front, the balance being silvered out; hammer blued with polished sides. Gripstraps have been reblued; grips appear original, fit very well, have a quarter-inch chip at right toe, are solid, smooth and show light but very good markings for a military revolver. Visible serial numbers match, markings overall are clear (but for barrel address), revolver in the main appears original and correct. Action is smooth and sure; bore is bright with sharp rifling and etching toward muzzle. Est.: $3,000-$5,000. (Antique)*
