This ORIGINAL Sharps rifle belonged to Dr. Albert A. Stillman who was a dentist from Syracuse, New York circa 1903. This rifle was originally built by Sharps in circa 1880 and then re-barreled and customized by August O. Zischang of Syracuse, NY circa 1890. Stillman was an avid shooter and even had his own gun range. Rifle is fitted with three barrels, the first is a blued 32" half octagon in .32-40 caliber fitted with a three prong false muzzle with Gutta Percha starter. Barrel is marked "A.O. Zischang Syracuse, NY" and has a Wind gage front sight and Stevens No. 26, 3/4" tube scope with crosshair reticle and caps. Tang has a Vernier folding sight. The second barrel is a full octagon 29-1/2" blued barrel with front scope mount and drilled rear position in .22LR caliber with its own walnut checkered Schnabel splinter forearm. Third barrel is unmarked blued round 28-1/4" in a 38-55 caliber with scope bases. The extra barrels are housed in a felt lined modern wood case. Standard case- hardened 1878 Borchardt Sharps action marked on left side "Borchardt Patent / Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Conn.". Action is border engraved with floral patterns by unknown engraver with left side engraved in script "Dr. A.A. Stillman / Syracuse, NY". Action has Zischang double set Schuetzen triggers with case-hardened lever with attached Gutta Percha stop pad. Walnut Zischang pistol grip Schuetzen stock with dish cheekpiece and brass lever butt plate. Matching checkered Schnabel forearm with inlet for palm rest. This rifle comes with 22 Schuetzen medals won by Dr. Stillman and a ton of clippings and provenance. Also includes two wooden shooting boxes full of tools, bullets and accessories. CONDITION
Barrels exhibit 90% original finish with light fading blue and light handling marks. 90% case colors with sharp engraving. 90% original varnish with light handling wear. Excellent bores with good mechanics. Scope needs to be professionally cleaned. All accessories are in excellent condition!
