Antique English Double Barrel Tap-Action Boxlock Percussion Pistol, by Henry Holland, NVSN, approx. .44 cal., 3.25'' round over-and-under screw-off barrels unmarked but for proofmarks; engraved frame marked ''Holland'' on left side and ''Burford'' on right and with proofmarks at bottom; unique sliding safety bar; folding/disappearing trigger, one-piece bag style grips appear to be rosewood with a vacant shield-shaped German silver nameplate inlaid at wrist. Tap action lever is mounted to left side of frame; when rotated up or down it selects which barrel will fire from the single hammer. Condition is very good+; smooth metal has a darkened bluish finish, with sharp markings and engraving. Grips are smooth and unblemished but for a chip out of bottom left side where they adjoin the frame. Action is crisp; bores are clean and smooth with polygonal rifling for about 1/4'' at muzzles. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
