Made by Henry Lechler Jr. circa 1840's in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Measures 50" overall length with a 34" smoothbore 75 caliber (roughly 12 gauge) round barrel with bead front sight and "U.S." stamp with maker's "H. Lechler Phila" marking. Barrel is a recycled musket barrel. "H.Elwell Warranted" marked back action percussion lock with single trigger control. Curly maple checkered half stock with brass floral engraved hardware and escutcheon plates. Comes with hardwood ramrod with brass tip. CALIBER: 75. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Metal has turned to a brown patina with light oxidation. Brass has been cleaned and polished and is starting to fade to a golden yellow. Wood has been cleaned with expert wrist repair. Dark bore and crisp mechanics.
