Guns originally made in the flintlock period circa 1760 by London Gunsmith Joseph Griffin. Griffin worked from around 1750 until his death in 1783. Guns were originally flintlock and have been professionally converted to percussion guns by an unknown gunsmith, circa the start of the percussion period. 6-1/2" barrels with an overall length of 12". Guns most likely came in a maker's case with accessories, which is missing now, but they currently reside in a glass faced walnut wall mount display case and are ready to be displayed. Both guns are fitted with "Screw" type polished cannon muzzle barrels in 60 caliber with smooth bores and numbered "1" and "2". Boxlock frames are polished with line border engraving and a floral "LONDON" banner on right panel and a "GRIFFIN" floral banner on left. Each gun has a safety catch which slides forward when in use. Underside of frame has two oval proof marks. Action has floral engraved steel trigger guard with turned tail trigger. Each pistol has matching mahogany grips with Sterling Grotesque Face and shield thumbpiece CALIBER: 60. FFL STATUS: Antique.
