SN: 113842 1968 Amnesty registered, fully-transferable WWII era US Military Submachine Gun chambered in .45 Automatic. Though stamped, Auto-Ordnance Corporation, Bridgeport CT, this SMG was subcontracted to Savage Arms. The M1 was a simplified design from Savage for easier manufacture to meet wartime needs. The M1A1 was simplified even more with a fixed firing pin rather than being hammer fired like the M1. Most of the M1 Thompsons were “upgraded” to the M1A1 configuration, though this one remains unaltered, a scarce find.

Features a blued finish, 10.5” tapered round barrel, full-banded blade front sight, stamped steel aperture rear sight with protective ears, cylindrical charging handle on the right side of the receiver, manual safety & fire selectors on the lower receiver/trigger housing, 20 round Seymour Products stick magazine, tan canvas sling, walnut forend with grasping grooves and shoulder stock with trapdoor metal buttplate.

Matching serial numbers are found on the receiver and lower receiver/trigger housing. The Savage “S” stamp is found on the receiver, lower receiver/trigger housing, bolt and forend. A “P” is stamped in the barrel and bolt. A “5” is stamped on the charging handle and buffer. The receiver is stamped [crossed cannons], “GEG” inside a circle twice for Auto-Ordnance inspector George E. Goll, “FJA” for Army Inspector of Ordnance Col. Frank J. Atwood.

This SMG exhibits approximately 20% of its original blued finish with much of the finish retained in the protected areas while the balance of the metal surfaces displaying a mottled light/dark grey patina with some scattered rust tones. The action is mechanically sound, the bore is bright with pin prick pitting throughout and the walnut stocks are good with dings & dents. Includes three 30 round spare magazines and registration documents from a FOIA request.
Condition is NRA Good.
