Historic rifle owned by famous Schuetzen Age gunmaker and shooter Axel Peterson of Denver, Colorado. Rifle was built by Peterson as his personal gun. 28-1/4" stepped No. 4 weight blued octagon sightless barrel in 38-55 caliber stamped on left flat "A.W. Peterson Denver, Colo." and is fitted with Peterson mounts and a Malcolm 6x scope. Case-hardened Sharps-Borchardt 1878 action with Peterson Schuetzen Perch-belly stock with dish cheekpiece and nickel plated Helm butt plate. Matching diamond pattern walnut splinter Schnabel forearm fitted with nickel plated palm rest with bone grip. Comes with provenance and tools including a Schoyen grease pump, sideplate breech seater and original Ideal mold. J.T. Livengood Collection. CALIBER: 38-55. S/N: 18180. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall good with 90% barrel blue and some freckling. 90% vivid case action colors. 90% remaining wood finish with sharp checkering. Good bore and mechanics. Tools in good condition.
