"THE SHARPS CREEDMOOR" SINGLE SHOT BREECHLOADING RIFLE WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX. Cal. 45-70. S# SCR091. Bbl. 32". Model 1874 Sharps single-shot breechloading rifle, mfg. in Italy by Pedersoli and imported by KASC. The top flat of the heavy octagonal bbl. is marked "The Sharps Creedmoor", with the bottom flat marked with the S#, followed by the "dp" Pedersoli logo as well as the cal. designation. Upper receiver tang is engraved "Made for KASC G'BORO, NC./ by Davide Pedersoli/ SCR091". Receiver features near full coverage scroll engraving, with a gold inlaid moose present on the left. Right side of the receiver features a scene of a gold-inlaid buffalo, with a scene of three gold-inlaid buffalo present on the sideplate. Buttplate, as well as the underside of the lever, feature ensuite engraving. Receiver, breechblock, lever, hammer, and buttplate exhibit a case color hardened finish, with the bbl. exhibiting a blue finish overall. Checkered wood straight grip buttstock, with checkered wood forend terminating in a German silver nose cap. Globe front sight and flip-up tang-mounted aperture rear sight (not currently fitted to the rifle but present in the box), with double-set triggers. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box, containing a Pedersoli VHS tape, aforementioned rear sight, as well as a factory manual. CONDITION: near new, with case color hardened components retaining virtually all of their vibrant factory finish overall, and with the bbl. retaining virtually all of its original blue finish overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting grease while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture is excellent overall. Box shows some light exterior wear from handling and storage but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. A truly fine example of a beautifully engraved Pedersoli Sharps Model 1874 rifle that one would find to be extremely difficult to upgrade from. (24-5010/MLW). MODERN. $1,500-2,000.
