Cal. 8mm Flobert. NSN. Bbl. 27 1/2". Single-shot breechloading cadet rifle produced by an unknown Belgian mfg. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Belgian commercial proofs, as well as with the cal. designation at the breech. One-piece plain musket pattern stock is pitted with a brass plate marked "41" on the rear of the comb. Blade front sight (marred and no longer serviceable), with V-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain a dark brown patina overall, exhibiting some light oxidation and pitting, with some traces of case coloring present on the sides of the hammer and breechblock. Bore exhibits dark pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
