British military single shot bolt action training rifle chambered in .22 caliber rimfire. This rifle began as a Lee Enfield Mark I* in 1903, was converted to a Charge Loading Lee in 1911 and eventually became a .22 caliber training rifle with the Morris style Aiming Tube & rimfire bolthead. Features a blued finish, 30.2" barrel, ramped patridge front sight with protective ears, latter style rear sight graduated to 1,800 yards, adjustable receiver mounted aperture sight, volley sights, metal forend cap with bayonet lug & piling swivel, serrated trigger, detachable 10 round magazine with cut-off on the right side of the receiver, manual safety on the bolt, tan canvas sling, smooth wood handguard, full-length forend and straight grip shoulder stock with long tang brass trapdoor buttplate. The right side of the butt socket is marked '[crown]/E.R./B.S.A. Co./1903 and L.E/I*' & the left side is marked "C.C.L/1911/26099." The barrel is stamped 'E' over the chamber and shows nitro proof marks for the .303 cartridge. Serial numbers match on the receiver & barrel. Rifle exhibits approximately 95% of it's blued finish with little wear and some old pitting & dings on the top of the barrel. Action is smooth, both bores are very good and the wood stocks are very good. Condition is near NRA Excellent ***C&R Firearm*** From The John F Sukey Collection
