Numerous Birmingham Proofs on rifle."WD" with broad arrow on left receiver, lever, barrel bans, & cleaning rod. (War dept) Features a 33.2" barrel, fixed blade front sight, flip-up ladder rear sight, cleaning rod, two barrel bands with bayonet lug on the front band, serrated trigger, sling swivels, full-length smooth wood forend and straight grip shoulder stock with smooth metal buttplate. Marked "NS NEP" to the left of the rear sight. (For transfer to Native State Nepal). No Nepalese markings on metal, but left rear stock has 4 Nepalese characters. Right stock has original Mark I stock upgraded to Mark II that has survived with its Enfield Roundel cartouche intact. Most of these were rubbed off or over-stamped with Indian Arsenal roundels. This one is not only there, but it's sharp. Note the Allahabad Arsenal cartouche next to the Enfield. This arsenal was located in Northern India just to the south of Nepal. Also stamped "1894", "2", and "II". Rifle retains some of it's thinned blued finish but the majority of the metal surfaces have turned to an aged brown patina. Action performs well, bore is good/dark with strong rifling present. Wood stocks are good with many small scratches/dings, chipped around the rear retaining pin. Screw in left receiver. is damaged. Rifle comes with correct leather sling, and correct Nepalese marked bayonet and scabbard, both in very good condition. A really nice set. NRA Condition-Very Good as Antique Firearm
