''Ballistite & Empire Smokeless Shotgun Powders'' Advertising Lithograph, of huntress holding her SxS shotgun raising a pheasant. Litho measures approx. 13.5''x26'' with metal bands intact; lower left corner is marked ''Copyright 1910 by Nobel's Explosives Co. Ltd.'' Two new gun powders were promoted by DuPont in the early 1900's, Ballistite which was a dense hard grain powder, and Empire which was a bulk soft grain powder and a favorite with trapshooters, and the litho is so marked ''dense'' and ''bulk'' in the heading. This highly collectible advertising piece was produced by the Nobels Explosive Co., headquartered in Germany and founded by Alfred Nobel, who is credited with the invention of dynamite. Condition is near excellent showing bright original colors and no fading. There is a fold mark at the bottom and minor edgewear to the sides, and one small spot near the copyright where a sticker has been removed. Nicely framed behind glass. Est.: $2,000-$3,000.
