Battle - Original Acrylic and Gesso on Masonite Board by DSC's 2016 ARTIST OF THE YEAR Laurel Barb
2016 DSC ARTIST OF THE YEAR, LAUREL BARBIERI, is pleased to present this fascinating work of art for auction in support of DSC. The beauty and mystery of ancient cave paintings is captured in primitive, yet contemporary, acrylic paint and gesso on Masonite board in "Battle", an original Relief Sculpture. The Relief Sculpture process originated by the artist used to create "Battle", results in a powerful multi-dimensional work that pulsates with color and depth. In this piece, Barbieri depicts the battle-worn bull elk's exhaustion and elation having survived another rutting season. This painting reflects the artist's close connection to the land, a result of her childhood years growing up in simple circumstances in the rugged Olympic Mountains of western Washington State. This affinity was further developed by her hunting and exploring adventures as an adult. Barbieri's art is filled with organic shapes, heavy textures, brilliant colors, movement, and emotion. Each relief-sculptured painting is unique and you will never find another art work like "Battle". This beautifully-framed piece measures 65"x35". DALLAS SAFARI CLUB THANKS LAUREL BARBIERI STUDIOS FOR THIS 100% DONATION.
